I am not sure if Roman was more excited by the snow or by the fact that he informed me that if it snowed Santa was coming. This little sweetie steals my heart every day!
The one day of snow has turned into a week of staying at home and just keeping warm inside. Our activities for the week have centered around the book "A Snowy Day" by Ezra Jack Keats. We have read this book before many times but they love it and I just thought it was really appropriate for this weather.

I read the book to them and we talked about the snow and what the little boy, Peter, did when he went out to play in the snow. I asked them what they would do when they went out to play in the snow. We had a really good conversation centering on comprehension of the book and applying it to our life. Next, we played a game using white panty house that I stuffed with cotton balls and tied to make "snowballs." We spent a lot of time having a snowball fight. They really enjoyed this activity and we have actually done this several more times this week.

On day two, we read the book again. After reading the book we painted a picture of snow using white paint on a blue background. I cut out a figure out of red paper to resemble the boy in the book and we glued our boy in the snow picture. We again talked about all the things Peter saw.

The third day we read the story. The activity for this day included snow. I filled two pans with snow and placed a few random small toys in the snow and covered them. I gave each of the twins one of the pans along with spoons, fork, and a sand shovel. They enjoyed finding the objects. We also took a handful of snow and packed it into a snowball. In the story, Peter witnesses a snowball fight but thinks he is to small to join. We had a very short discussion on why they thought Peter was to young to join. Renley said it was because he was a boy. Finally, we came to the conclusion, with much direction, that snowballs are hard and would hurt if you were hit by one.

In the book, Peter puts a handful of packed snow in his pocket and it was gone when he was finished with his bath. We also packed some snow and put it in a bowl during bath time. It was mostly melted when they hoped out of the tub. We talked about why it melted and how that was similar to the snow in Peter's pocket.

The last activity we did for this week utilized shaving cream. I thought shaving cream resembles snow in that it is white and you can play with it. After reading the book twice, because they didn't think once was enough, the twins had free time to play with shaving cream and toys. I gave them each a cookie sheet with a huge pile of shaving cream and let them have at it. They loved it!

Some of the other activities we did this week included:
1. Using our crayon canisters to sort objects by color. I had them take the lid off and put it on each time they added an object to help with motor skills.
2. Drawing lines with a marker. I had them draw a line from "Peter" to the house on a "worksheet" I created.
3. Cutting paper. They aren't at the stage to be able to cut along a line but they love cutting pieces of paper. We use toddler scissors.
4. We played stop and go in the house.
5. Danced and danced to the "Frozen" songs. Snow theme...I think so!
6. Lots and lots of free play!

I have to say that I really enjoy doing these activities with my twins and being their teacher. Thanks for letting me share my lessons with you.
Teresa Coosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10042659271906915457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37175028954996372.post-7833965143443919182015-02-16T08:57:00.000-08:002015-02-16T08:57:58.285-08:00Valentine FunLast week we centered all our activities around Valentine's Day.

I ordered a couple of books about Valentine's Day but only one arrived so story time for the week consisted of "Llama Llama I Love You" and several random books. I try to read at least ten books a day to the kids. We break this up into reading two or three books three or four times a day. One of those time is always before bed and nap. Other than that I try to read during our structured activity time. They will usually bring me books to read randomly which makes it easy to get ten books.

Monday, we made hear necklaces by stringing cut out heat shape and one and a half inch drinking straw pieces onto yarn creating a pattern. This activity was really good for their fine motor skills. Renley loved it. Roman tolerated it but did complete the task.

Tuesday we painted heart pictures using a toilet paper tube that we shaped to look somewhat like a heart. We also made Valentines cards for all their siblings by tracing their hand and utilizing dot paint and stickers. I used one traced handprint from each twin and cut it out, glued it onto a card created by folding a piece of construction paper in half and wrote on the card, "Hands Down Your One of The Best Sisters Around!" We used the dot paint and stickers to decorate.

Wednesday, since we had gymnastics during the day, our constructive play was after nap so I decided to do a game. I cut out five inch hearts from different colors of construction paper and taped them throughout the house. We played a version of musical chairs. Basically, I played the frozen soundtrack and would stop the music and call out a color. The twins then had to find a heart of that color. They really loved this game. When we were done I collected the hears and placed them on our patio door. They love to walk up to the hearts and say the colors. They really enjoyed this activity.

Thursday, we used conversation heart candies to sort and graph. I printed off worksheets I found on Pinterest and gave the twins each a handful of conversation hearts. They sorted the hearts by color and then we counted how many hearts they had of each color and placed them on a graph worksheet.

Friday I worked in Springfield so we only read books. Saturday the house was full with my children and I loved watching the twins interact with their older siblings. We made heart shaped pizzas and enjoyed playing.

The twins are really starting play together well. They love to play make believe. Their favorite games to play include princesses and pirates. Listening to them throughout the day makes me so happy. They are best of friends.

This week we will be reading "The Snowy Day" by Ezra Jack Keats and dong activities that center around the snow theme! I love snow!
I love these toddler days. They are both exciting and frustrating and at the same time they push me to be better every day.

Being a Mom of toddlers is different at this later stage in my life. Twenty years ago I didn't appreciate this stage enough. I can say with certainty that I am more focused and know what I want my toddlers to get out of these years. I also have a better sense of my purpose in a toddlers life. However, I am most certainly humbled by the experience.

While pondering these thoughts I came up with a list of things that I think every toddler deserves. This is not a judgment, just an observation using my own life experiences as a mom and teacher.
Ten Things Every Toddler Needs

1. Love. Kindness, respect, and acceptance. The security to know that no matter what the do they will be loved and valued. They need to know they are important and unique and that God created them with purpose. This doesn't mean indulgence in all that they desire.

2. Attention. Every toddler needs to know they will have a few moment of Mom's undivided attention. One-on-one time for Mom to get into their world and understand what is important to them.

3. Safety. They need to be kept alive on a daily basis. Protection from sharp objects, electrical outlets, fires and things that could cause harm. This doesn't mean helicopter parenting. Toddlers need to be able to explore, play and have a parent who encourages them to try new things. A few scrapes and bruises are okay. It is how they learn.

4. Shelter. A home that is safe and clean. A bed to sleep on. This doesn't mean they have to have their own room or one full of Pottery Barn bedding.

5. Food. Food to eat every day. A well balanced diet that helps them to understand good food choices. They don't need the latest cool "snack" or sugar laden treats, or all organic foods.

6. Sleep. Ten to twelve hours a day. A bedtime ritual. To be able to soothe self to sleep and stay in own bed. They don't need someone in bed with them.

7. To Be Silly. Freedom to be able to enjoy the playful days of childhood. To be able to giggle, play dress-up, and make-believe. For you to be silly with them. They don't need someone to entertain them or play with them 24/7.

8. Limits. They need to hear both Yes and No. They need to learn to accept the word "No" with a content heart. (We are still working on this.) They don't need to always hear "No" or "Yes."

9. Entertainment. They need some scheduled age appropriate activities everyday. Reading, drawing, time to practice fine-motor skills. They don't need to be over scheduled or entertained constantly. They don't need fancy toys: iPods, iPads, or other devices. I am not saying they are wrong just not necessary.

10. Instruction. To be taught age-appropriate skills, lessons, and good manners. Teach Bible stories and basic Biblical truths. They don't need anything requiring more than few minutes of focused attention. They don't need lectures. Teresa Coosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10042659271906915457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37175028954996372.post-23615785593930746542015-02-06T18:35:00.002-08:002015-02-06T18:39:19.938-08:00P is for PenguinThe snow and cold temperature this week inspired activities involving penguins. The twins loves animals so I thought penguin activities would be perfect. First, I contacted my favorite resource}e for books, Bonnie Coose. Seriously, if you need a reference for a book relating to any subject she's your gal! She recommended Penguins in Peril" by Helen Hancocks. Then, I checked Pinterest for some activities that looked fun and age appropriate. Of course I found tons.

We started our lesson by reading the book. It is a super cute story about a three cats who kidnap a penguin. The cats want the penguin to catch fish for them to eat. Thus, the penguin is in peril. We discussed the word peril but not sure they understood its meaning. We will try to use this word often in the next weeks so that they will grasp its meaning and be able to add it to their working vocabulary. We spent a lot of time looking at the pages of the book and predicting what they think will happen next. We also talked about camouflage since the penguin hid in many spots in the book to escape the cats. They really loved this book. Finally, we learned a song while marching like a penguin.

The song is sung to the tune of "I Am A Little Teapot."
Penguin Song:
I'm a little penguin
Black and white
Short and wobbly
An adorable sight I can't fly at all
but I love to swim
so I'll waddle to the water
and dive right in.

Once we completed reading the book we did an activity I found on Facebook as well as Pinterest. We created penguins using shapes. Look at those penguins! Aren't they adorable? I introduced the shapes to the twins. We played "I Spy" with the shapes. Basically I place all the shapes on the table and say "I spy a square" and then the twins find the shape. Finally, we put the shapes together and created penguins. They did really good creating the first penguin on their own but I really had to help and encourage them to finish the second.

On day two we read the book for the second time and again discussed all the things in the book. Next, we played a sorting and counting game I found on Pinterest. Again, the print out was free. I would suggest laminating the pages. If you don't have access to a laminator, clear contact paper will do. I [;aced the game board in gallon size Ziploc bags since I didn't have clear contact paper on hand. Players take turns choosing a card. Each card has one or two colored fish. The player locates the fish in his ocean found on the game board and places the correct number in the fishing bucket of the same color. At the end of the game I had the twins count the number of fish in each bucket. The twins loved this game! We also reviewed our shapes using the penguin activity we did yesterday. They played with these shape people for awhile. Again,to finish the lesson for the day we wobbled around like penguins singing our song to finish off our penguin activities.

On the third day, we read the book, again. I showed them pictures of real penguins that I printed. We talked about how they were alike and different. Next, we played a stop and go game of penguin walk. Basically, we took turns saying "stop" and "go." When it was time to go we had to wobble like penguins. Next, we talked about the letter P and what sound it makes. We discussed the fact that the word penguin begins with the letter P. We used play dough that was rolled into "ropes" and placed the ropes along lines of a letter stencil. Later in the day we created penguin hand art. (I forgot to take pictures on this day.)

During our fourth and final lesson for the week, we listened to "Tacky the Penguin" by Helen Lester being read by Pam on a Youtube video. This is just a unique and different way for the kids to read a book and they seem to enjoy it. We culminated our penguin fun by creating a penguin treat. I am a big proponent of the Montessori educational method and thought having the twins help create their treats would be a good activity to promote the self help and daily living skills this method incorporates. Check out the picture below for our treat!

We had a fun week with our penguin theme. I am not really concerned with teaching them letter and letter sounds at this age. I am just introducing them to the fact that letters represent sounds and sounds make up words we read.
The twins know their colors very well and the basic three shapes: triangle, square and circle. I hope to help them recognize rectangle and oval soon. They can count items to seven very accurately. We will continue working on counting.

Part of the lesson is learning how to sit still and complete a task. This is can be difficult for a three year old. I am proud of how much progress they are making with this.

I have linked the printouts below.
I love listening to the twins talk to each other. The things they say make me smile often. I record these things in a notebook in hopes that I will remember them forever.

Here are just a few of the recent things they have written in the book.

*I walked into the room wearing a dress and Renley looked and me and said, "Mommy, you are a beautiful princess just like me!"

*Tonight as it was sleeting and snowing, Renley looked out on the porch and exclaimed, "Look, Mommy, its just like on the boat, its all sparkly!" (This needs some clarification, when we go out on the lake she loves when the sun glistens on the water and "sparkles.")

*When we correct onE of the twins the other one always speaks up and defends their sibling saying something like, "Don't be mean to my sissy!" (We are working on understanding the difference "between mean" and Mommy and Daddy teaching behavior."

*Renely says to Roman, "Hey Buddy, be careful or your going to fall."

*We walk into Casey's a few weeks ago to get donuts. I open the door and Roman throws his arms wide open and exclaims loudly with much enthusiasm "I LOVE DONUTS!"

*Renley says to Roman: "Hey Mr. Coose, what are you doing?"

*Roman says to Renley in the car: Roman: "that's a goooood song, Sissy!"
Renley: "Yes, Roman, that's a really good song!"

*Roman says to Renley: "Sissy, I miss you when I am sleeping!"

*Roman says to me when I go to get him up from his nap: "Mommy you are beautiful!"

*Renley says to Roman when he was upsest today: "Hey Mr. Grumpy Gills, what"s wrong?"

*We always have to sing the "I See the Moon" any time we see the moon in the sky.

These are just a handful of the things that fill my days and make me smile. I am so happy to have these two in my daily adventures!
After a very long hiatus from this blog I am BACK. Back because I realize how much I need this blog to help me remember and cherish every moment with these two little ones!! They turned three this past November. I honestly have to say that the threes have been, up to this point, harder in some ways than the twos. Why?
Have you ever tried reasoning with a three year old? Now envision reasoning with two three year olds. It makes for some very interesting conversations.
I believe the day toddlers turn three the drama triples!! Have you witnessed the explosion that happens if you take a bite of a three year olds sandwich or attempt to dress them in something they do not want to wear? For example, trying to convince a three year old that ballet slippers are not appropriate shoes to wear to the grocery store when there is snow on the ground!
And the phrases that come out of their mouths! The other day I was trying to get Renley to permit me to French braid her hair. She looks at me and exclaims through screams and tears, "Well, this is REDICULES!"
Where does she get this stuff? I must have missed those episodes of Bubble Guppies or Little Bear.
It’s phrases like these that leave parents scratching our heads and wondering what is going on in their little minds, then the next moment, tiptoeing around them and dodging their fits.
Three year old twins are even more interesting. They are quick to make sure I know when the other twins is doing something that is a "no-no." Of course, they fail to tell you that they were the instigator or possibly they also did the same thing not two minutes ealier. To top it off... if you don't stop what you are doing and take care of the situation immediately you will hear the same "tattle" repeated with ever increasing whininess!
My three year old daughter is happy to croon the lyrics to “Let It Go” right along with me. However, her brother pipes up from the back seat yelling, “Mommy, DON’T SING!” And if you thought hearing that song the first 2,560,000 times was annoying, wait until you have to sit through it in silence.
My three year olds will also eat ten million go-gurts that I have frozen, so being the wise and good Mommy that I am I purchased five boxes just to be certain I wouldn't run out of their favorite food, only for them to declare they don't want them anymore.
Have you ever tried taking two three year olds out in public? They definitely know how to divide and conquer or at the very least to distract and destroy. I often get to the checkout at the grocery store with items I am sure were placed in the cart by conspiring twins! I can just envision the scene. You distract mom while I throw the full of sugar and preservatives treat in the cart. She will never know!
Having said all this, I have to admit there are some pretty enduring parts to having two three year olds in the house. They are best of friends and will watch out for each other. They cheer each other on with phrases such as: "YAY!! Roman went peepee in the potty Mommy!" or "Mommy, Renley looks like a princess!" They play together and I love listening to them pretend to be Andy from Toy Story or Elsa! There is never a dull moment in our house! And just as every other stage this too shall pass and I will long for the days when they were three!
I know my blog has been about Roman and Renley and our adventures as the title indicates. But I have decided to add a little more to my blog. Beginning with some fashion fun.
So yes, Outfit From Clothes I Already Own, is the title on one of my pinterest boards. I actually have 96 pins to this board!! That is a lot of outfits from clothing I have hanging in my closet! I get in a rut of styling my items with the same things over and over again and this blog is going to help me get my style back!
On the rare occasion when I decide to put on something besides my yoga pants and tshirt and consult my "pins" I ALWAYS get compliments on what I am wearing. It is hard to find outfits that make me feel like I look good without looking like I have tried way to hard or like I am trying on my daughters clothes! So, using pinterest and consulting my daughters, I will look and feel good and have some fun while I am at it!
So my commitment this year is to "Shop" more from my own closet than from any other source and to get rid of items that I really no longer find useful to me.
I started two weeks ago by purging my closet of jeans that I no longer wear. I literally removed two large black trash bags of denim pants. Who in the world needs that many pairs of denim jeans???? I feel relieved! And now my quest continues!
I am committing to:
A. purging ten items for the next seven days from my closet
B. wear a different outfit everyday for the next two months using only items in my closet.
I will be posting what I wore each Friday for the previous week to keep me motivated.

Whew!! So I invite all of you to join me. Let's see what we can create from what we already own!
It is hard to believe it is already the first week of April. I am glad winter is over. The twins and I really need to get outside. We have spent a few days exploring the yard over the past month but literally no more than four. The weather has been crazy. One day it will be warm enough to go out and play and the next it is raining or just to cold to go out. I can't wait till we can spend more of out time swinging and going for walks! It is hard to find enough stuff to keep them busy inside all day every day!

The twins have also been fighting a cold and both ended up on antibiotics. Roman for an ear infection and Renley for a strep throat. Needless to say there has been a lot of Mommy cuddles and reading books and watching Frozen numerous times. Then this past week I had surgery to repair an umbilical hernia and diastasis recti from my pregnancy with the twins. The recovery from this has been long and painful. Much, much, much worse than I ever expected or was prepared to handle. I am still not able to take care of them alone and they will be going to grandma's house tomorrow. They love playing with Sadie, my mom's dog, as well as feeding the chicken. Grandma is really good with the twins and they have the best time with her. The last time they stayed at her house I arrived to find them having a tea party complete with cookies and a miniature china set! She is definitely making lots of memories with these two. I think that is one thing that I admire about my mom watching the twins. Her goal is to enjoy them. She definitely makes them mind when needed but she doesn't act like it is her duty to correct all of their wrongs or try to make them act like she thinks they should. She respects my guidelines for raising them and them just enjoys the moments, making each one so special!
My niece has also committed to watching the twins one day a week for me so that I can have a guaranteed day to work. She has a little boy who is almost three and cares for a six month old infant. I think being around other children will be good for the twins. It has proven to be a great situation over the past three weeks and I really appreciate her patience and kindness and mothering of the twins while I am away from them. It is evident that they are being treated well because they get very excited when I tell them we are going to Finn and Bonnie's house. When I pick them up they are always in a good mood, which tells me they have had a great day! Words can't express how happy it makes this mom's heart to know she has someone like this to take care of my precious babies when I am not with them!
Staying at home for the past two years has given me a new perspective on parenting. I love being a stay at home mom. (Yes, I do work in the office at our business one or two days a week, depending on how much I have to get done, but I still consider myself a stay at home mom!) When I committed to staying home with the twins I wasn't sure how I would handle the isolation from the world I once new. But, honestly, I don't miss it one bit. I absolutely love being with my two little people and working with my husband a few hours a week gives me a little time away and makes me appreciate the time I am home with the twins. I am not judging others for their decision to be a stay at home mom or working mom, I think that it is each persons own choice, all I am saying is that for me, this was the right choice - no regrets!! However, being at home for the past two years I feel I have put taking care of myself on the "back burner," as they say. One afternoon while reading a blog online I came across a blog sight that I have really enjoyed called, Get Your Pretty On (www.getyourprettyon.com). The author was promoting her"Style Me Pretty" spring challenge and I decided to check it out. Basically for ten dollars you are given a spring shopping list and then outfit ideas for twenty-one days of different outfits. Of course, I jumped on the chance to have someone else help me style my clothing! I was so excited to get my shopping list on April 4. The group members have ten days to gather the items for the outfits. I was even more excited to find that almost all the items were already hanging in my closet or in my dresser. I only purchased a few items totaling less than one hundred dollars. I am anxiously awaiting the next stage, which will be styling our outfits! Hopefully this will get me out of the yoga pants, sweatshirt and ponytail rut I am in at the moment!
Larry has been gone for almost a week and half. He was home for one night and then off again for a work project. I didn't realize how much I depend on him for mental support until he is gone. I am so ready for him to be home.
The twins have been sick but I really shouldn't complain since this is the first time this winter that they have really been down and out due to not feeling well. It is just so hard when they both want Momma. Roman has really become a Momma's boy...he want me by his side for everything from watching tv to reading a book to taking a nap. While I like being needed it makes it difficult to get things done or even go to the restroom let alone poor Renley need my attention as well so we are working on taking turns helping Mom do things.
They are growing so much and talking more and more every day. They love to "read" books to me and talk about all the things we see. They can't wait for the weather to get warmer....As most of the people I know. It is so hard coming up with activities to do with them that will keep them busy for a while.
This past week they have had their first experience going to a babysitter's home. My mom has always come to my house or the girls watch them or Carrie comes and stays with them when we go out or on vacation. I realize what a blessing that has been and how glad I am that I don't have to get everyone around every morning in a mad rush! Bonnie, my niece is taking care of the twins once a week while I work in Springfield and my mom will come to the house once a week. The kids love FInn, Bonnie's son, and they adore Bonnie. She is so good with the twins. I can't imagine leaving them with anyone else! When we were leaving Renley turns to FInn and says, "Bye, you!" It was so sweet!!
What a day it has been! You know those days where you look back and are just thankful they are over. Yep! That was today. Not that it was disastrous but more like it was just plain and simple a rough day!
It began with a play date we had to cancel due to Renley having a fever and being a little cranky. Then one of the girls left their back pack at home and another needed me to get her some paperwork left home to school. So I dressed two babies and preceded to put them in the car only to find that the car seats had been removed after church and no one put them back. I put the twins in the back seat and preceded to strap the seats in, which by the way is not the easiest thing to do for those of you who have not installed a car seat in some time. It takes using both hands a knee and you teeth to get the straps through without it tightening. All the while the twins are climbing over the seat and me and at the same time taking everything out of the diaper bag while I a preoccupied and hands full installing the seats. Once the seats were done we headed to town.
One thing that makes running errands difficult is getting the twins in and out of the seats. That seems to be one of the hardest things about having twins is getting them in and out of public places. They are too small to really allow them to walk in by themselves and too big for me to carry both of them at the same time. So that leaves me to try to hold their hands and coerce them into following my directions. Renley is very compliant for the most part and follows directions consistently but Roman hasn't quite mastered the task of listening to Mom and following directions. He seems to have good intentions but gets side tracked a few minutes into the task. He will spot something he wants to check out such as the wheels on the nearby truck and then I am stuck trying to keep hold of Renley's hand while she is determined to follow the original directions of going into the store. ALl in all it is pretty eventful trip which I choose to do as infrequently as possible. Fortunately Jessi was in town this time so she joined us so that I didn't have to take the twins into the school to drop off the needed items or to the grocery store to get the ten items on my list.
We are really tired of winter in this house! I am sure everyone else is, also. One can only watch so much Little Bear and Bubble Guppies. Coming up with new activities that keep both of these two entertained is proving difficult. They both have such different personalities. Renley loves to draw and play with any type of manipulative or activity that involves fine motor skills. Roman on the other hand is so interested in his Choo-choo that he rarely plays with anything else. The ironic thing is that he doesn't really play with it in the way one would thing but he moves it around the house and fills the cars with animals and then comes and gets anyone who will take his hand so that he can show you his train. He will do this as many times a day as he can.
We spend a lot of time playing in the bath tub or sink. They love water and it is the one activity that engages both of them. We also read a lot. But like everyone else I am so anxious to spend some time outside.
Last week we attended our first MOPS group. It was a success. I was worried the twins wouldn't do well. This was the first time they have ever spent anytime with children their age and the first time they weren't at home, grandma's house, or the church nursery. I have to say I was impressed. They didn't cry when I left them which was bitter sweet because I was certain they would "need" me. When I picked them up was able to witness them playing with others and it made this Momma's heart puff up with pride. Needless to say I am anxious to for our next meeting.
Off to take care of some pretty awesome little people in my life! Hope winter ends soon!
My Punkins" love the Pumpkins

Pumpkins, hay ride of sorts, climbing on hay bales, apple pie, colorful leaves, and cool autumn breezes! These all the things that the babies have experienced this past week.

It has been so exciting to watch the twins experience fall this year. They are old enough to be able to really enjoy the things that make fall so exciting. They loved the "hayride" at the pumpkin patch and were mesmerized by all the pumpkins in the field. Although Roman enjoyed running in the mud more than the picking the pumpkins. Renley had to pick the perfect pumpkin. One that was just the right size so that she could carry "myself." She would find one and the another but finally found one! And we were blessed with the words "Mine" at that point! Watching Larry interact with the twins and run with Roman through the hay maze as well as the corn maze was one of the best things about our day. He is such a good Daddy!!

We have spent a lot of time outside the past week or so because all too soon the weather will be to cool to allow much time outside. We try to spend at least an hour outside in the morning and an hour or two in the afternoon after nap time. Renley will ask to go "outside" from the moment she gets up until we are finally ready to head out. The trampoline has been a big hit and they love chasing each other in it! I am just glad the make the net sides on them now. I can't imagine how my older kids survived without it!

Taking the twins places has definitely gotten easier. We actually ate out yesterday after lunch Larry and I were able to eat and enjoy our meal while the twins ate their food. Going grocery shopping is definitely easier as well. They like to help me load items in the cart and I am working on counting the items as we put them in or talking about the food or colors. Anything to keep them interested in what we are doing. A shopping trip still has to be a limited thirty minute inside the store trip so any major shopping is done minus the twins.

Three out of four days last week they decided they didn't need to sleep but would rather run around their beds talking to each other and throwing every item out of their bed into the other twins and back again. It was so cute for the first fifteen minutes. They were yawning and ready to go to bed when I put them in their crib. I even resorted to moving their cribs and putting up a visual barrier so that they couldn't entertain each other. WORKED!! They finally fell asleep. I am bound and determined they will take a nap everyday for at least the next year even if that means I have to wake them earlier in the morning. This mommy needs a little time to clean and get a few things done like take a shower!! Plus, I really want them to be in a good mood in the evening when the rest of the family is home and if they don't get their nap then they are very cranky! Today is a good nap day!! I put them down at 12:15 and by 12:25 they were asleep.
Okay....so I took a little hiatus....or maybe it was a big hiatus.....was very busy taking care of to cutie pies!
The past year has been a whirlwind of fun!! Raising twins really is a grand adventure. I decided to get back to this blog because as the second birthday of Roman and Renley quickly approaches I am reminded all to quickly of how fast the time has gone by and more importantly how much we think we will remember but don't. So, having said that, I am going to attempt to blog again more for keeping track of this adventure and our daily activities so that one day those little munchkins that bring joy to each and every day of my life with just a smile will have something to help them know about their growing up years.
To bring things up to pace:
Renley is very talkative and can say just about anything you ask her to repeat. What is more amazing is her ability to carry on somewhat of a conversation as well as tell you what she wants to do or ask you a question. Her favorite phrase at the moment: "It's disgusting!" (used for anything she doesn't like from mud to food), she also will tell me "It's messy" when there is a mess with food, toys or her hands are dirty. Another thing she like to say is "Can I touch it?" when she wants to touch something that she is not sure she should such as the pumpkins on the table or my coffee cup. Every day she asks to "Go outside?" I am not sure what we will do when the weather is too cold! Alas- she also tellls me "Need my pacy (pacifier) now!" We are working on getting rid of it and at this moment we have told her that she is big girl. I showed her picture of baby Renley and showed her pictures of herself now and explained to her that she is a big girl and that big girls only get their pacys at night an at nap time. She is pretty good with this explanation once we get the pacifier from her in the morning. That is our real challenge. But as we all know toddlers are strong willed so I just wait till I can distract her so her mind will be on something else before taking it.
Renley loves to draw and paint and will spend at least fifteen minutes at a time engaged in that activity. She loves her baby and will rock her and feed her a "bottle" and put her to bed.
Reading books is also a favorite past time. Her favorite is Baby's first picture book, Silly Sally, and The Little Blue Truck.
Roman is talking but not nearly as much. His favorite words are "oh NO!" used for when something has happened that is not good..such as dropping something he shouldn't or when something has scared him. He also can ask for milk, and can name tractor, motorcycle, truck, airplane....basically anything with wheels or a motor. Funny how boys really tune into that stuff.
Roman loves to roll trucks around the house and chase his sister. He will put his hands up to his chin and wiggle his fingers like he is going to tickle her. She runs of giggling and her runs after her. It has to be the cutest thing ever!!
He has very little interest in drawing and probably has spent no more than 2 seconds engaged in this activity.
He does, however, love to read. His favorite books are Baby's first picture Book, Red Truck and The Curious George.
Bedtime has changed to 7:30 and they wake up around 6:45 to 7:00. Nap time has changed to 12:30 and they sleep 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
I have to say they are the sweetest little people ever!!
I look forward to sharing more adventures and documenting their life so that one day I can share this with them!Teresa Coosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10042659271906915457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37175028954996372.post-82136965963348082132012-12-07T10:07:00.001-08:002012-12-07T10:07:54.811-08:00Where did this year go??I haven't written much in a long time. It seems life has been extremely busy around here but I decided that all the things I thin I won't forget will be forgotten if I don't record them and this blog is just that-a way to document and share the events of life that I hope to remember forever but know that as life happens they will be pushed to the back of my mind.

Last blog I recorded was Roman crawling and now he is a master at not only walking but climbing as well!! Renly hasn't really shown a lot of interest in the walking yet but give her time and I am sure she will be chasing her brother around the house on those two cute little feet of hers.

These two spend the majority of their day climbing on anything that is over three inches high. Since it is Christmas and I ordered ninety percent of my gifts on line, we have a lot of boxes of various shapes and sizes and they have provided the twins with a much enjoyed indoor playground. They laugh, they clap, they turn around to see if anyone noticed how successful they were at climbing that last "hill" and they throughly enjoy the boxes. A few nights ago I was in the bathroom getting ready to give the twins a bath and Roman stepped up onto the scale. He looked at me and started clapping, like he had just accomplished somethin so amazing. I have to say these two littles hold me in awe of life itself. Just every little milestone and every things we do I try to think about how they are seeing things for the first time.

They love to read, Renly much more than Roman. Renley will sit and listen to you read book after book while Roman has patience for one possibly two books before he is off to discover some hidden toy. Renley loves to just sit and look at books, also. Her favorite is "Brown Bear, Brown Bear." If you start reciting the book, yes, I do have it memorized, she will go to the book case and get the book for you.
Our days are filled with fun and laughter as well as a few tears but this is what life is about-family!!Teresa Coosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10042659271906915457noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37175028954996372.post-77465395155662839742012-08-13T09:41:00.000-07:002012-08-13T09:41:16.906-07:00A little bit of life......

Roman and Renley love to play in the water!!

Well, the time is almost here!!! Time to head back to work....its only two days a week but it hard to think about leaving the twins twice a week. I love filling my day with their smiles and being the first to see their new milestones!!

This week has I have witnessed Roman standing for long periods of time and he is climbing on anything he can hike his little legs upon. I think this little boy is going to keep his momma busy for quite some time!!

Renley has a very different personality than Roman. She love the details of things. She can spend long period of time looking at the leaves blowing or playing with a toy that moves. She is fascinated by how she can make the toys make sounds or move. This was her week for firsts! While we were eating at Maggie Mae's Tea Room with Mom she learned to blink! It was so cute and she was so proud of herself! She also learned to wave bye...sort of! She is intrigued by the movement of her thumb and has sat for long periods of time watching her thumb bend at the knuckle. When my mom and dad were here Sunday, Grandma was trying to get her to wave bye and she started moving her thumb like she does and them moved her hand a long with it to say bye to Grandma and Papa!!
I am also glad to report that nap time and bed time are back on track for the most part. Roman loves his two to three hour afternoon nap and gets up in a great mood. He usually takes a short morning nap as well. Renley isn't much of a napper but I think it is because Roman is so much more active that her and he wears himself out playing. She usually takes an hour morning nap and then another hour afternoon nap. They both usually wake up between seven and eight and go to sleep at night between eight and eight-thirty. I am happy with this schedule. Renley goes to bed before Roman giving us some one on one time and Roman sleeps at nap time longer than Renley so I get one on one time with her, also.

A few of the girls and I ventured to Sam's Club and Wal Mart to stock up on much needed supplies and enjoyed a day out. The girls decided it was time for Roman and Renley to expirence the rides at Wal Mart. If you take a look at the pictured you will see they enjoyed these rides way more than the ones at Silver Dollar City last weekend!

It really is fun having older children as well as the babies. The older ones enjoy seeing the babies do things for the first time and really play with them a lot. Needless to say I am sure we will all feel the pain of not having them home once school begins!

I am so excited to be able to say that I am finally to my pre-pregnancy weight!! Nine months to gain it and nine months to loose it!! I still haven't gotten that pre-pregnancy tummy back but I think it will get there. It is really nice to be able to fit into all my clothes once again!!!

School shopping with twins proved ..well.. entertaining!!!
My mom joined us as the "Nanny" for our school shopping adventure! Jessi, Ashton, Abby, Emma, Mom, Roman, Renley and I set off Wednesday for a school shopping experience!! (Madison and Moriah will be another adventurous day since they weren't able to go on Wednesday).
I typically give the each child a certian amount of money and they are allowed to purchase items they need/want for school. I have to say I am very proud of all the girls. They are so good at knowing what they want and really looking for bargains and finding just the right things so that they have some really cute outfits as well as the things they will need. Their purchases always include at least one pair of jeans and a pair of shoes as well as a couple of cute tops. Two of the girls found some really cute dresses which will look adorable! I love to see the items they choose. While each daughter has good taste, they also have their own unique style! I often look at something and know immedialtey which daughter will choose that item! It is so fun having such diverse personailites in our home!
We began our shopping at Target and found some really cute items... for the older kids as well as for the twins. Target is one of my favorite places to buy the twins items. They have some really trendy items that can be mixed with other things to make for cute outfits.
We decided to have lunch at Olive Garden before we ambushed the mall. GOOD CHOICE GIRLS!!! We had a fantastic meal and emjoyed some Shirley Temples as well! The babies loved the minestrone soup!
After lunch we were off to the mall for some fun shopping and stroller ride for the twins! I am so thankful my mom was with us because after spending an hour in Forever 21 I was worn out!! Roman and Renley liked riding in the stroller but shopping just doesn't provide enough movement for them and they continually wanted to be roaming on all fours around the stores which I wouldn't let them do!!! So the stoller ended up being used to haul all the purchase and we carried the twins!!
We ended the day with a trip to Orange Leaf!! I love ther wedding cake frozen yogurt....and so do the twins!!!
It was a great day full of laughter and great memories with the girls, twins and my mom!! I love this family so much!!!Teresa Coosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10042659271906915457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37175028954996372.post-15966172120897431792012-08-02T19:30:00.000-07:002012-08-02T19:30:53.813-07:00Adventurous days.......NEW TOOTH AT OUR HOUSE!! Okay....so maybe that isn't big news to many people but it is so funny how it is the small things as a mom that sure put a smile on your face!
Roman and Renly also love to give full on open mouth kisses! Might seem yucky to many people but to this Momma it is the sweetest way to start my day!
When you tell Renley "No, No, No,!" She will shake her head no as if she is trying to convince herself that it really is a no,no.
Roman is pulling up to everything and since Renley started crawling this past week she has really made progress as well. Roman can stand on his own for a few seconds and seems fearless.
Renley crawled up on the shelf of the sofa table and plopped her little butt down as if she had done something miraculous.
Roman loves music. When the TV is on and music begins to play he will stop what he is doing and "dance" (bounce) to the beat. He is so darn cute!!
The twins are starting to interact with each other which has to be one of the cutest things I have witnessed. Today Renley fell and hit her head while trying to pull up on one of the kitchen chairs and was crying. I scooped her up and started rocking her in the chair and Roman crawled as fast as he could to the chair and looked at Renley and started patting her leg then he attempted to crawl into the chair (I helped him up) and he leaned over and tried kissing her. They also like to "talk" to each other and will take turn making random noises at one another.
My house looks like a prison in lock down....gates over every door that leads out of th living/kitchen area, locks on the toilets, and safety latches on the cabintes. With these two I think its much needed!!

Teresa Coosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10042659271906915457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37175028954996372.post-19321693254983294262012-07-26T20:35:00.002-07:002012-07-26T20:35:53.697-07:00My Oh My....My Oh My...my grandmother's expression of choice! But that is exactly what I think of when I look at these to little babies. It is hard to believe in one week they will be nine months old. It seems like yesterday I was in the hospital awaiting their arrival.
Some days are good and like all families some days are just so chaotic that I can't wait for bedtime! This past week has been one of those weeks. But it seems like the more I need the twins to go to bed on time the more they think Mommy needs company. The first part of the week they took turns staying up late. Roman voluntered for first duty staying up till 9:30 Monday and Renley took Tuesday evening and Roman again on Wednesday. I thought I was at the end of my rope until Thursday night came and they proved to me that things could be worse...they both chose to bless me with the smiling faces and active little hands until 10 PM!!! I was worn out and was just praying for one of them to sleep...cause honestly they weren't smiling and all they wanted was to be held and played with. But tonight...they made of for it.....both babies were in bed by seven!! I was able to take a leisure bath and then watch "Mirror, Mirror" with Emma and Jessica!
I have so many things to celebrate! As I look back over this past year I realize how wonderful life has been. Larry and I were blessed with twins that were born healthy and spent no time in NICU, which is a miracle given my previous pregnancies and the preterm labor and hospital stay with these two. I have an amazing family that makes me smile everyday.
My wonderful Momma came over the morning of my birthday and made me a yummy blackberry cobbler from blackberries we purchased at the farmers market. I spent the evening doing exactly what I wanted....enjoying good food with wonderful kids and I enjoyed watching them play with the babies and then we spent time talking and laughing and finished off with a movie!
It is true what they say...life just keeps getting better and better and the moments sweeter!
I can't wait to see what a wonderful year this next one will be!!
Last week Jessi, Ashton, Abby, Wade, Renley, Roman and I traveled to Kansas City to clean Wade's apartment. It was extremely hot, but we still managed to walk to the Plaza and enjoy a little shopping and ate a yummy lunch at P.F.Chang's. I love their lettuce wraps!

July has been a busy month. Roman is getting around very well and loves to "chase" his large ball around the house! Renley just started crawling this morning and going from laying down to sitting up on her own!! It is fun to witness these milestones in their lives!
Having twins has been difficult at times. It has forced me to do things I thought I would never do such as lay one of the babies down with a bottle propped up by a pillow while I care for the other one, no worries...I am in the same room at all times! I also let them wear only a diaper way more than I ever thought imaginable....less laundry! I let them cry far longer than I would any of my other babies while I fix a bottle or change the other twins diaper. Sometimes it is just a necessity! I also don't get to spend as much time with them as I would like...so much to do and so little time to do it!! I hope they grow to be well adjusted children and adults who have empathy for others but believe in themselves without coming off as self centered and later become adults who know that their Mom and Dad believe in them and will always be there for them!!
Roman is now on the move!! Happy Birthday to Mommy!! This morning I was standing in the kitchen and Roman and Renley were playing in the living room on the floor about ten feet from me. I was talking and soon I felt little hand on my leg....looking down I saw the cutest pair of chubby hands holding onto my ankle and the sweetest big brown eyes starring up at me!! My Roman had made his way across the floor just to tell his Mommy hello and Happy Birthday. I wasn't certain that he had actually crawled to me because he has found some ingenious was to maneuver his way to places he wants to go but moments later I witnessed him crawl to the DVD player and the blinking blue light of the direct TV box!! Oh joy!!! two new toys!! NOT!!! So, I am thrilled that he has learned to crawl but I am also terrified as to the changes this will bring to my world. No longer will he be safe playing on the floor and no longer will sister's computer or books be safe in the living room. Roman is mobile and loving it..... so WATCH OUT WORLD here he comes!!

I love hearing their little noises.....Renley's little MOMOMOMOMA ...well of course she is saying Momma.....not just some random noises I am sure!!

Renley is trying to figure out how to crawl!

And then Roman and his little buzzing lip noises he makes!! What a cute pair of twins they make!! I am so blessed!Teresa Coosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10042659271906915457noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37175028954996372.post-1153163734160088652012-06-25T15:47:00.001-07:002012-06-25T15:56:04.622-07:00Today.......Awww....I love days like today when it no matter what happens all seems right with the world!!
Renley has learned how to blow bubbles and it is simply the cutest thing ever!!! She spends hours blowing bubbles!!
Roman is not crawling but he can get where he wants by getting on his hands and knees and then repositioning his body and sitting down then doing it all over again until he gets where he wants. He also hops on his bottom to get to a different location.
He loves to bang on pots and pans while Renley sings along with him! They are perfect!!!! (says the momma)

Today as I was feeding the twins I began to think about what being a mom of "advanced maternal age" was to me. I can honestly say that I enjoy the part of my life more than I can express in words. Children are one of the major sources of happiness for most women, but they also change life as we knew it before we had them, even if we had older children and are now starting over again.
Young kids are full of energy, demands and needs that require much attention but the "extra" wisdom that we moms have as forty-something moms comes in very helpful when handling these little ones. I have taken things less seriously and enjoyed each moment more, I have learned what is important and what won't make a difference in ten years, I am more emotionally stable, more patient, and most of all I understand from experience how quickly this era in my life will pass!
I am not saying being a young mom isn't a good thing because I certainly enjoyed my motherhood raising my other children. I sure know I had more energy!

Occasionally, I look at these babies and think "surely you will never turn into those preteens that don't like having Momma around or the teens who would rather die than spend a Saturday night with Mom....but then I remember that "yes" they will go through these stages and it will be okay because with these stages also come the random advice seeking teen who out of the blue asks your opinion about a relationship or outfit (equal importance in a teens eyes I believe) or the one who comes in after a late date and can't wait to share what is going in their life with you at one in the morning or the hug you get for no reason at all and ever so often the text that says "Mom I love you so much and I am so glad you are my mom!" Yes, these moments make everything else disappear. So, today I am thankful for all the sleepless nights as well as the busy days that leave little time for me to exercise and I am thankful for the fleeting moments that I still have left with my teens and look forward to the adult relationships we will one day have!Teresa Coosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10042659271906915457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37175028954996372.post-213498614820169822012-06-19T08:38:00.001-07:002012-06-19T08:38:42.009-07:00Best Baby DaYS!Best baby days!!
I haven't posted in a while because life is just B-U-S-Y! The past weeks I have witnessded the babies learning to go from a sitting position to laying on the floor to sitting again and learning to pull themselves up to their toy basket or small furniture. Roman is always ahead of Renley in learning to do things. I think it is because he is so rambunctious! It is fun to see the difference in their personalities. I am not certain this is due to their gender or just their personality.

They have learned to play for an extended period of time on the floor with toys so I have actually been able to get a few things done...but most of all I love sitting on the floor and playing with them! They are so close to crawling.....watch out sisters!!

This morning I was loading laundry into the dryer when I hear Renley cry....you know the cry that tells you something is wrong. I walk into the living room to see here lying on the floor and Roman has a large plastic toy hitting Renley over and over with it and laughing out loud. Thinking this may just be a sgin of things to come!!

I love it when I go to pick them up from their bed and they are sitting
up "singing" me a song with those huge smiles and Renley's adorable
dimples. At that moment I know that all the hard work is worth it!

I have to share with you what I feel are the perfect shoes for the babies. Roman has very large feet for his age. They aren't just long but are really fat and Renley has very petitie feet; thin and tiny. I purchased more shoes than I would like to admit to for the babies trying to locate the perfect pair that are comfortable, cute, and stay on. I found them, finally......Pedipad!!! They make several styles and the infant ones are sized by months which make it easier to choose a size and hopefully they will last longer. I have purchased white ones for Renley in size 0-6 months and she has been wearing hers for two months and brown sandals for Roman in size 6-12 months which he wore for two months and I purchased the 12-18 months for him in the sandals and brown "loafers." I plan to continue with this brand as they grow older. The price is right and they Velcro closed so the stay put and are easy to put on, but they aren't so tight that the are uncomfortable. I am not big on making the babies wear shoes at this age but there are just times when I feel it is more appropriate for them to have shoes on such as for church or going to eat at a nicer restaurant. I posted pictures below.
I decided look at the week and think about the positive things that we did instead of thinking about all the things I didn't get done. So this blog is therapy for me. I did get everything unpacked, washed AND put away. I finished KEI's deposits and paid the bills for both businesses and our household. I kept the dishes done and the floors cleaned. The twins and I went out to eat with Jessica, Abby and Allie, I read a book to the twins everyday, played with them on the floor, watched Roman learn to go from a lying down position to sitting up and watched as he teetered on his hands and knees....close to crawling, rocked my babies to sleep everyday, cleaned the two main floor bathrooms. went for a walk everyday with the babies, ran two miles three days this week, managed to get dressed before nine everyday this past week and brush my hair and teeth, feed the babies bottles 24 by myself and 14 times with help from the girls, made three trips to town and one trip to Joplin, watered the plants everyday, attended a wedding, read my Bible daily and most amazing thing ever....found time to paint my toenails!!
So, I may not be able to look around and visually notice the things that I accomplished this week but I do now realize that I did complete some tasks and most of all I spent time with my children and babies. Looking at those two smiling faces this morning made me realize what a lucky mom I am and that I should concentrate on the positive and forget the negative because these two babies deserve a happy momma!Teresa Coosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10042659271906915457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37175028954996372.post-77111293973071174442012-06-04T16:50:00.004-07:002012-06-04T17:17:16.413-07:00Just a little bit of today....I woke up this morning with the fact that I needed to change my perception of reality...well at least my acceptance of what it was yesterday!!

One good big cup of coffee was just what I needed to get this day off to a better start. It helped that Renley slept ALL night, yes all night, two days in a row now. I am hoping this continues!! I really wish I could get the twins on a schedule that was similar. Just as their personalities are different so are their schedules. We do manage to get them to bed within the same hour but my little man is a sleeper like his Momma. He comfortably sleeps until nine or ten. On the other hand, my little princess is a morning person like her daddy! She wakes up around six-thirty. She wakes up in a pleasant mood. We can hear her talking to herself and "singing." Unless she is crying I make it a rule to wait until seven to get her out of bed. Renley was already been up and back down for a nap by the time Roman was awake for the day.

I really don't mean to sound like I am complaining. I have a friend who mentioned that her baby didn't have a bed time and went to sleep sometime between midnight and one AM. It makes me realize how lucky I am. It made me start to think about things. I thought about how I got the babies to have a good bed time. I could say it was because I have had so much experience and am a really terrific Momma, but that would be a lie. My other childern didn't have a good bedtime. In fact, Abby and I used to stay up till 10:30 to watch one of her favorite shows. This time we do have a routine that we do every night, but I stole that from my niece. We feed the babies cereal then bath them and read them a book. Next, we feed them a bottle and then lay them down for the night. I have come to the conculusion that God never gives us more than we can handle and He just knew that at my age I couldn't hadle babies who didn't sleep. I would go insane!

I knew when those sweet little grins that wiggle their body from head to toe greeted me with bright eyes that today was definitely going to be a better day. Sometimes you just have to allow yourself a moment to linger in your self pity but then decide that it your own attitude that has to change. Today is a new attitude!

Have you ever noticed how a baby has such unbridled love for his/her parents. It's like the smile I mentioned in the above paragraph. They love with their whole being. Every inch of them expresses their feeling for you. Like they have so much love that it is just bursting out ready to be shared. When I pick them up from the crib, they hold on tight like I am the best thing ever!! I want to remember these moments forever!! So today has been a better day, despite the dishes that need to be washed, the loads of laundry waiting to be done and the floor that needs to be swept....for my babies are growing up way to fast to let something so trivial steal my joy!
The babies were a little fussy after lunch. I had very little luck getting them to play with the toys so I pulled out a couple of pans and plastic serving spoons. They loved it!!! They were banging and patting away!! It was fun to watch them. I got a kick out of watching them interact. Renley constatnly wanted to spoon and pan Roman had. When she was successful in retreveing his away form him he would work his way around to where he could reach the one she had and then it would start all over again. She AGAIN wanted the ones he was playing with. I think this may be a taste of what the future may be like.

Today, we filled up the wading pool. The babies loved it!! I am sure they think it is an over sized bath tub. Watching then splash and laugh was priceless. Not sure who loved it more the babies or Jessica! She enjoys helping me with the babies and I enjoy having her here to help me!!!

I usually try to look at things as temporary...like temporarily the babies are fussy....temporarily the dishes need to be loaded in the dish washer....temporarliy I need a shower....eventually everything gets done. But there are days like today where everything seems too much...the fact that I haven't even had a second to brush my hair or my teeth let alone take a shower today and it is already five in the afternoon...just overwhelms me!!

I didn't go to church today thinking the babies needed a day at home after seven days of travel....well...they have been held and played with so much on vacation that they expected the same attention from me. I love my babies dearly but enough is enough!! It is impossible to get anyting done with two babies who cry when they are set down or not being talked to or played with! THIS WILL NOT DO!!

So i sit here....with two babies watching me type on my computer thinking they need to be helping me as well. But dear friends....I needed to vent...to share my frustration I guess in hopes that by doing so things will seem better in the end.

Being a mom is a demanding job and yes I knew that going into this scenario. I do have four other children. But some days I long for the time when I used to be able to take a long shower when I wanted to and to go run five miles at any time of the day not just when I can manage to crawl out of bed before six AM. Some days teaching 32 fourth graders seems easier than raising twins properly!

But then I think about all the blessing they bring me and I know that I don't regret a single missed hour of sleep or mile run....Don't get me wrong I still let those thoughts linger in my mind once in awhile but mostly I try to tell myself...The grass always looks greener on the other side!!!

My house isn't as clean as it once was, my clothes often have spit up on them, gone are the days where my hair is fixed before I leave my room...but in their place are the smiles that greet me in the mornings and the hugs, smiles and sounds that I enjoy through the day. I grasp onto the thoughts of the relationships I share with my now teenage daughters and my grown son realizing the rewards that will be mine in the future and knowing these days will be gone in a blink of an eye! I know that these moments are fleeting...and try to get past the self pity and look forward to the special moments that will be in my memory forever....at least I don't remember feeling this way with my other children so I presume you don't remember the overwhelming times!!

I just hope I wake up tomorrow and it is a better day! The twins bed time is only two and half hours away....
